Northwest Pretties was
officially established in 1991. I needed to help make ends meet while my kids
were young and, in addition to that, I wanted to be "a stay-at-home-mom!"
I put my floral talents to work and started my small business.
In those days it was pretty much "Dried Floral arrangements"....
I spent the weekends at local farmer's markets, with my kids,
selling the wreaths and swags I'd managed to get done during the
week in-between the duties of being "a stay at home mom".
In the fall months I
would set up at large craft shows at the King Dome (before it got
imploded) in downtown Seattle and again at the Tacoma Dome for the
Holiday Shows. Those were monster shows took tons of inventory and
((fast)) work... whewww ! I did a few shows
locally in and around my town and managed to keep inventory at a few
select Consignment shops around the Seattle area. Ahhh those
were the (((hectic))) days. <grins>
Then along came
1999.... kids are out ((trying to be on their own)).... I
finally have the back surgery I'd put off for many years and during
recovery and physical therapy I learned that I would have some
life-long physical limitations, Albeit Minor, it was time to
re-analyze the direction and viability of NW Pretties.
I never expected nor anticipated such a thing. Forbidden to
lift over 20lbs, NO Bowling (what do you mean NO bowling!!) no
strenuous gardening !! WHAT!! have you ever tried to garden
without straining? No lifting boxes full of floral to
and fro.
This is when I decided
that I would give the would wide web a try. I practiced a few
other mediums and found that painting was good. It didn't take
long before I was painting away.
I found
e-Bay, first as a "buyer" & I was/am a darn good buyer ta-bout ... there's no doubt about that.
Soon I
figured out that I would make a darn good seller too and because of
the overwhelming response with that, I have terribly neglected my
web-site!
Low and behold, I am going to make a good effort to figure
this all out myself, and work at it so you'll have a Prettie* place
to come look around and shop for all the treasures lined up to offer
as well as a place to visit and enjoy!
